Halloween Smoothie Bowls

There aren’t many things that I enjoy more than creating memories around good food. And I especially love when I can take an everyday recipe that we enjoy all year long, and tweak it into so،ing special. And these Halloween Smoothie Bowls made me really, really happy.

Can we just take a minute and appreciate ،w pretty it is? This one isn’t just for the kiddos (not that they weren’t thrilled and practically licked the bowl clean). But this presentation is sure to win major appreciation with the adult crowd. It’s also deliciously healthy and bursting with texture and fresh berry flavor. And it requires no cooking or decorating s،s. If you have a ziplock bag and can draw a circle, you’re halfway there. How’s that for a ،liday win?

How to Make a Spooky Halloween Smoothie Bowl:

  1. Make the smoothie. Add juice (or milk), bananas and frozen blueberries to your blender. Blend until smooth and creamy, adding more liquid if necessary. Remember we’re adding toppings and eating this with a s،, so you want it to be nice and thick.
  2. Pour into bowls and make your yogurt web. Divide your smoothie mixture between your serving bowls, smoothing the top if necessary. Put the greek yogurt into a small baggie and snip off a small corner of the bag. S،ing in the middle of the bowl, gently squeeze while piping the bag into concentric circles, stopping about half an inch from the edge of the bowl. Use a toothpick to carefully draw a line from the center of the bowl to the edge, creating your web design.
  3. Add your toppings. Add your desired toppings in a half circle, leaving half of your smoothie bowl exposed.
  4. Serve and enjoy!

Tips & Suggestions:

Get creative! Put the toppings into bowls and let your kids make their own ،y creations.

Other Topping Ideas: If you can’t find seasonal berries, frozen or even freeze-dried fruits make yummy smoothie bowl toppers. Mini c،colate chips, festive sprinkles, shredded coconut, granola, slivered almonds, mandarin oranges, sliced g،s, diced apples, or banana slices also make great toppers.

Use your favorite smoothie recipe as a base. This is more a concept than a recipe. Use your favorite green smoothie and have your kids make goblin smoothie bowls, or a nice orange mango smoothie is a great base for a smoothie jack-o-lantern.

Is your smoothie too liquidy? Try adding a handful of oats or more frozen fruit to thicken it back up. Add just a little liquid at a time and stop as soon as your mixture is able to blend smoothly.

Use a bowl that is wide and shallow. This will give you the perfect base for adding plenty of delicious toppings. Chilling your bowl in the freezer is also a good way to help keep your smoothie nice and thick when serving.
